Brandon wasn't drowning in ordinary debt.

He owed money to private investors.

Nearly $2.4 million.

Most of it from a failed luxury housing development.

He had secretly mortgaged everything.

Including the house.

Alyssa didn't know until foreclosure notices arrived.

Brandon convinced her one inheritance would fix everything.

"Your mom won't even miss it."

"She's old."

"She'll leave it to you anyway."
