Chapter 9 - The Hearing Noel Didn’t Filter

The first court hearing was not glamorous.
No soft light.
No flattering angles.
No chance to cut the footage before anyone saw it.
Noel sat at the defendant’s table in a black blazer, face pale, hands folded tightly.
Camille sat behind her, eyes swollen.
Sloane sat on the other side with her own attorney.
Michael sat beside Alice.
Alice wore a blue blouse buttoned high enough to cover most of the healing burns.
She held Henry’s old handkerchief in her lap.
Not because she was weak.
Because strength could still need something to hold.
Noel’s attorney opened carefully.
He said the livestream incident was unfortunate.
He said Noel was devastated.
He said families often misunderstand the pressures of online work.
The judge looked unimpressed.
Then Marissa played the video.
Noel’s voice filled the courtroom.
Relax, it’s content.
The spill.
Alice kneeling.
The comments racing.
Alice saying, You’re still live.
Michael entering.
Noel saying, It was a joke.
Then Michael’s voice.
Keep streaming, Noel.
Noel began crying silently.
Alice watched the screen without looking away.
When the video ended, the courtroom was silent.
Marissa then entered the blue folder.
The consent revocation.
The trust ownership documents.
The demand to remove unauthorized videos.
The list of posts Alice had objected to.
Then the stolen folder evidence.
Then Sloane’s statement.
Then the texts.
If Alice acts hurt, let her. Sympathy converts.
The judge’s face hardened.
Marissa called Alice to speak.
Michael helped her stand.
Alice walked to the front slowly, but her voice was clear.
“I did not want to be famous,” she said. “I wanted to be kind to my daughter-in-law. I wanted my son’s marriage to feel welcome in my home.”
She looked at Noel.
“She mistook welcome for permission.”
Noel lowered her eyes.
Alice continued.
“I asked not to be filmed. I asked not to be posted. I asked not to be made into a joke.”
Her voice trembled.
Then steadied.
“She spilled hot soup on me while people watched. And afterward, she worried about her brand.”
Michael closed his eyes.
The judge asked, “Mrs. Morgan, what are you asking this court for today?”
Alice took a breath.
“I want my home back. I want my image removed from her platforms. I want her barred from profiting from my face, my kitchen, my grief, or my age.”
She looked at Noel again.
“And I want it recognized that being polite does not mean I consented.”
That sentence settled over the courtroom like a verdict before the ruling.
The judge issued temporary orders immediately.
Noel was barred from the Morgan property.
All content featuring Alice, the home interior, family recipes, or Henry’s belongings had to be removed or frozen pending review.
Revenue from disputed videos was placed in escrow.
Noel was prohibited from referencing Alice in public statements.
A civil exploitation case would proceed.
Possible criminal assault findings were referred for investigation.
Noel’s attorney asked for time.
May you like
The judge replied, “Your client had plenty of time to stop filming.”
👉 Alice finally told the court what Noel had done, but the biggest consequence came when Noel’s own followers started uncovering the rest.
