Chapter 6 - The Widow’s Video

Marco placed a tablet on the table.
Vincent did not sit.
Neither did Lydia.
Silas stood near the edge of the room with two of Vincent’s men watching him closely now.
The guests had been moved back, but nobody truly left.
No one wanted to miss the moment a dead woman began speaking.
Marco pressed play.
Isabella appeared on-screen.
Alive.
Pale.
Elegant.
Wearing the sapphire necklace.
Vincent’s breath caught so violently that Lydia looked away.
Isabella spoke directly to the camera.
“Vincent, if you are watching this, then I failed to reach you alive.”
Vincent’s jaw tightened.
His eyes shone.
“I need you to listen before you act. Especially if you are angry. Especially if the necklace was found on someone poor enough for everyone to accuse.”
Lydia’s eyes filled.
Isabella continued.
“The woman carrying it did not steal from me. I gave it to her because Silas would never believe I trusted a waitress.”
Silas snapped, “This is fabricated.”
Vincent turned his head slightly.
“Speak again and I will forget there are witnesses.”
Silas shut his mouth.
On-screen, Isabella took a breath.
“Silas has been moving money through Romano Hospitality and the private import accounts. He has used your grief, your pride, and your reputation to isolate you from anyone who tells you no.”
Vincent’s face darkened.
Isabella’s voice softened.
“I tried to tell you. You told me Silas was family.”
Vincent closed his eyes.
That memory hit him.
The argument in their bedroom.
Isabella holding papers.
Vincent tired, angry, unwilling to believe his brother-in-everything could betray him.
He had said it.
Silas is family.
Isabella had answered:
So am I.
He had walked out.
Now her voice continued from the tablet.
“If I die suddenly, look at the charity auction night. Look at the kitchen corridor. Look at the man who says not to make a scene.”
Everyone turned toward Silas.
His face was gray.
Marco slid photographs onto the table.
A hallway.
Isabella arguing with Silas.
Silas gripping her arm.
A private driver waiting by a service exit.
A time stamp less than six hours before Isabella’s death.
Vincent’s voice dropped.
“What happened that night?”
Lydia whispered, “She came to the diner after.”
Vincent looked at her.
For the first time, not as a suspect.
As a witness.
Lydia forced herself to speak.
“She was scared. She said you were being lied to. She gave me the necklace and said if anyone called her weak, not to believe them.”
Vincent looked back at the screen.
Isabella’s final words played.
“Do not bury me under your anger, Vincent. Use it correctly.”
The video ended.
No one moved.
Then Vincent turned toward Silas.
Slowly.

The entire restaurant seemed to stop breathing.
👉 Vincent finally heard Isabella’s warning, but Silas still had one card left: he knew Vincent had hurt Lydia in front of witnesses and tried to use that against him.
