Chapter 6 - The Brother Who Stayed Silent

My brother came alone.
No excuses.
No defense.
Just guilt.
“I should have stopped her.”
I looked at him.
“Stopped what?”
He admitted Margaret had been controlling the family for years.
She threatened anyone who disagreed.
Including him.
“She told me if I didn’t cooperate, I’d lose everything.”
I wanted to be angry.
But I saw something familiar.
Fear.
Then he gave me a flash drive.
“She kept copies of everything.”
Inside were recordings.
Emails.
Documents.
But one file stood out.
A recording from Christmas morning.
Before dinner.
Margaret’s voice.
“If Emily doesn’t leave tonight, we lose control.”
I replayed it.
And then I heard Vanessa say something worse.
May you like
“Daniel will blame her.”
