Vanessa and Dr. Pike were arrested on initial charges that evening.
Grant had already disappeared.
His vehicle was found near a train station.
Police suspected he had switched cars.
Vanessa’s attorney argued she should be released because Eleanor’s injuries were minor and the financial documents had not yet been filed.
The prosecutor requested detention.
The judge scheduled a hearing for Friday afternoon.
Until then, investigators allowed Vanessa one monitored attorney call.
She used coded language.
“The family appointment remains at ten.”
Her attorney warned her not to discuss finances.
Vanessa replied:
“Grant knows which blueprints the bank needs.”
Detective Blake obtained a warrant to monitor Grant’s communications.
At 9:52 Friday morning, Grant accessed the bank portal from a hotel near the airport.
He uploaded the forged waiver from Daniel and Dr. Pike’s incapacity declaration.
The bank system displayed approval.
In reality, the loan had been routed into a government-controlled mirror account.
Grant initiated the refinancing.
Eighteen million dollars appeared to transfer from the Whitmore commercial properties.
The system requested destination accounts.
Grant entered four.

Blue Cedar Consulting.
Vantage Medical Holdings.
Each company had been formed within the previous year.
Grant controlled two.
Dr. Pike controlled one.
The fourth belonged to a woman named Celeste Ward.
Daniel recognized the name.
Celeste had been Vanessa’s college roommate.
She now worked as a private estate broker.
The transfer memos revealed their intended roles.
Property acquisition.
Medical certification.
Trustee compensation.
Family settlement.
Grant then uploaded a digital copy of Eleanor’s signature.
It had been created from older charity checks.
The system rejected it and requested live verification.
Grant called Vanessa’s attorney.
Vanessa was listening beside him during a legal visit.
She spoke quietly:
“Use the recording.”
Investigators exchanged looks.
Grant uploaded a video.
Eleanor sat in her bedroom saying:
“I authorize Vanessa Whitmore to act for me.”
The words sounded clear.
The footage showed no visible force.
Daniel almost believed it until Elena saw the curtain behind Eleanor.

The hidden camera archive contained the full recording.
Before the cropped section, Vanessa placed crushed pills into Eleanor’s tea.
Afterward, Grant stood behind the camera holding handwritten cue cards.
When Eleanor said the wrong word, Vanessa threatened to stop Elena’s nursing tuition payments.
The original file transformed the apparent consent into evidence of coercion.
Grant continued entering account information.
Every person involved became visible.
At 10:18, the mirror system displayed:
TRANSFER COMPLETE.
Grant sent one message to the group.
The old woman is finished.
Federal agents entered the hotel room seconds later.
Grant attempted to destroy his laptop.
The files had already been copied.
Inside his suitcase were passports, cash, Eleanor’s missing jewelry, and a contract to sell the Whitmore mansion to Celeste’s company for one-third of its value.
The sale date was Monday.
Daniel looked at his mother beside the hospital bed.
“They planned to remove you before then.”
Eleanor nodded.
She whispered:
“Basement.”
Daniel leaned closer.
“What is in the basement?”
“Robert’s files.”
