PART 1: Code Black in the Kitchen

PART 1: Code Black in the Kitchen
Ethan kicked Claire in the side while his mistress watched.
Claire was seven months pregnant.
She was on the marble floor of their white kitchen, one hand wrapped around her stomach and the other reaching for her phone.
Water spread beneath her shoulder.
Broken glass glittered around her palm.
Her pale dress was soaked at the hem, and her cardigan had slipped off one shoulder when she fell against the cabinet.
Ethan stood behind her in a navy shirt, breathing hard, his face red with rage.
Olivia stood near the island in a pink robe.
Claire’s robe.
Claire’s house.
Claire’s kitchen.
Claire’s bracelet shining on Olivia’s wrist.
Ethan raised his foot and drove it into Claire’s left hip.
Pain tore through her body.
She hit the floor again, shoulder slamming into the lower cabinet.
A small cry escaped her before she could stop it.
Ethan leaned over her.
“Lose it, and I’m free.”
The words were worse than the kick.
Claire’s blood went cold.
Not my baby, she thought.
Not my son.
She dragged one shaking hand through broken glass, reaching for the phone lying beneath the cabinet edge.
Olivia smiled faintly and lifted her wrist.
The diamond bracelet caught the kitchen lights.
Claire stared at it through tears.
“That bracelet is mine.”
Olivia tilted her wrist like she was admiring a gift.
“It used to be.”
Ethan saw Claire’s fingers close around the phone.
His eyes widened.
He moved to kick it away, but Claire snatched it first.
Glass cut into her palm.
She didn’t let go.
Ethan dropped down and grabbed her wrist.
“Give me that.”
Claire twisted her body, shielding the phone beneath her stomach.
Her thumb found the emergency contact.
Her voice shook from pain, but the words came out clear.
“Code black. Domestic assault.”
Olivia’s smile disappeared.
Ethan froze.
A calm male voice came through the speaker.
“Location confirmed.”
Outside the kitchen window, security lights swept across the rain-soaked driveway.
Then came the first distant siren.
Claire lay on the floor, blood at the corner of her mouth, one hand protecting her baby and the other gripping the phone like it was the last piece of the world still on her side.
Ethan slowly released her wrist.
Because he had just realized Claire had not called the police first.
She had called the security network her father built before he died.

And that meant every camera, every gate, every panic relay, and every hidden microphone in the estate had just turned toward the kitchen.
👉 But before Ethan kicked her onto that floor, he had spent months planning how to steal everything Claire’s father left behind.
